Down with the Baseboards

Our good friend Troy came over this week and started putting in our baseboards for us! :)
Before...

The details make such a huge difference hey?  He's coming back to continue the process and do some more filling before I'm up for painting them (because I didn't get around to doing it before) but completely LOVE how they are looking and he even volunteered to recase in the doors and closets as he went, so pretty snazzzy.....!
After...
and look at that fancy shmancy return.

...as for the rest of the house - looks a little something like this....

We're In!

We are officially moved in!  YAY!  Well - more accurately I guess I should say moved "over" - "in" lends to a whole different assumption.  and the boxes and clutter indicate something quite differently.
However, despite the craziness of moving this past week-end,...we had a FANTASTIC day on Friday celebrating Claire's 4th birthday!  CRAZY!  How did I get a four year old?
And it is officially hot and summer in the Okanagan after a long wet spring so after the past three and a half weeks and happily turning the keys back over on our rental at some point tomorrow night (most likely in the last hour given the amount of cleaning left untapped over there) I'm hoping to take a break and do a whole lot of this.....
Pressure is off....Maybe we'll even find a guest bed at the bottom of a pile by the time Mom Moore and Kristy come on Monday....:)

beautiful beautiful countertops

YAY!  Today - first day for quite a while that I have not wanted to sell our little project house to the highest or lowest bidder....any bidder at all.....  We got our countertops installed and LOVE how they turned out!  And as happy with my laminate as if it was granite! :)  Actually, more so because this way Moe doesn't have to break my legs.
and the pendant lights are even up!  now just to get to that light above the sink, the kickboards and the crown around the top of the cabinets, and hanging the rest of the doors.  No biggie right?

And check out my pretty pretty faucets....  Aaron plans to start plumbing tonight so at some point in the future I may even be able to use them! :)
Wallpaper also continues to disappear in the guest room...  Not a fan of wallpaper, and as soon as I start to come around to the "trend" of it all....I have to take someone else's down and am once again convinced it is simply NOT worth it.  And I know it's just a border....but it's still obnoxious.
Hung the beautiful curtains that my mom sewed and blinds in our master bedroom.  LOVE them! Mom's a superstar!

our colors.

I put the final color selection on the wall yesterday and absolutely LOVING them all.  I guess I still have to pick the colors for guestroom and guestbath....but here's the rest....

my three main colors...

White Sand - Living Room/Master Bedroom/Ensuite
Hazy Skies - Front Entry/Stairs/Hallway
Sea Haze - Kitchen/Family Room/Laundry Room
and then for the bonus rooms...

Pink Bliss - Claire's Room
Nimbus Gray - Jaden's Room
Pale Avocado - Main Bathroom
the pictures don't really show the true colors...but the general idea.  Needless to say - my paintbrush and I are very well acquainted.... and I've still got 5 rooms to go...??

June 13, 2010

So, thinking of re-posting my closets because seriously folks, I don't think you're really appreciating my efforts.  Kinda hoping for a whole lot more hi-fivers on that one....or one. One hi-fiver would be great.... ;)

Sadly, Mom left yesterday.  Incredibly sad to see her go, but so so so blessed that she was here and did so much in helping us get started.  She's seriously a superstar and totally went above and beyond every day up staining and finishing the island and cabinet doors before we got up, putting in a full day at the house and then putting another finishing coat on the doors after we all went to bed.  LOVE her! :)  Definitely wouldn't be close to where we are without her here.  So amazing.
So - to date we have finished patched and sanded all the upstairs walls, painting the three bedrooms, ensuite and kitchen upstairs, finished the closets (ummm....have you checked out my closets??), primed the hallway and living room, primed and painted the doors, trim and window trim upstairs, caulked around door frames, put new towel racks, mirror and light fixture in ensuite, removed the old cabinets and divider wall in the kitchen, moved the outlets for the stove & microwave - patched and sanded previous outlet holes, installed the new cabinets and island, redone part of the plumbing for the main kitchen sink, prepped the boxes for the new pendant lights above the island, repaired flooring under divider wall, began repair of the wall beside divider wall removal, attached corbels on island.  K - that makes me feel way better about my sore and tired body!  Here's some new pics!
Have a good one....

the closets

Kay - so it's been two days now since I finished, but I gotta tell you...this is still the first thing I want to talk about, because well, many hours were spent on them and they are pretty fantastic.  :)  When we arrived the interior of all the closets were lavender, because, well,...why not lavender, and some of the closet doors were gold/yellow, the shelves were an assortment of mac-tac and spare plywood and some serious nails and variety of hooks and mis-used L-brackets were in place.  So, please take a moment.
k - but you're not understanding how ugly they were...
and now,

and I said Aaron stole all the "showy jobs"...

So , when you visit, feel free to ask about the closets....k - don't cause then they'll probably be hiding all my mess and clutter.
